1. As Regarded by Jehovah
Proverbs 16:5 The
Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished.
2. Things that Accompay
Pride
Proverbs 11:2 Pride
leads to disgrace, but with humility
comes wisdom.
Proverbs 13:10 Pride
leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
3. Pride of the Eye and
Heart
Proverbs 21:4 Haughty
eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.
4. The Consequence of
Pride
Acts 12:21-23 and an
appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his
royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them. 22 The
people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a
man!” 23 Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a
sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory
to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.
James 4:6 But he gives us even more grace to stand against such
evil desires. As the Scriptures say,
“God
opposes the proud but favors the humble.”
5. The Precursor of
Calamity
Proverbs 16:18 Pride
goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
