1. Lacking in This Quality
Mark 4:3-7 “Listen! A farmer
went out to plant some seed. 4 As he scattered it across his field,
some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate
it. 5 Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed
sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plant soon
wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it
died.7 Other seed fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the
tender plants so they produced no grain.
2. The Virtue of
Stedfastness
Job 17:9 The righteous
keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger.
1 Corinthians 15:58 So,
my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work
enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is
ever useless.
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be
on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
3. The Divine Support
Psalms 37:24 Though
they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the
hand.
Psalms 37:28 For the
Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will
keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die.
4. Grounding Discipleship
John 8:31 Jesus said
to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you
remain faithful to my teachings.
5. Essential to Eternal
Life
Matthew 10:22 And all
nations will hate you because you are my followers.[a] But everyone who endures to the end will be
saved.
Romans 2:7 He will
give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and
honor and immortality that God offers.
Hebrews 10:38 And my
righteous ones will live by faith. But I
will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”
6. Christ's Intercession
Luke 22:31-32 “Simon,
Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. 32 But I have
pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you
have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”
John 17:11 Now I am
departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to
you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the
power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.
7. The Believer's Security
in Christ
Romans 8:38-39 And I
am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death
nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our
worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s
love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed,
nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God
that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
