1. Concerning Nations
Acts 17:26 From one
man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided
beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
2. God's Agents
Jeremiah 1:5 “I knew
you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set
you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
Acts 9:15 But the Lord
said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the
Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel.
3. Joseph's Mission in Egypt
Genesis 45:5-8 But
don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this
place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your
lives. 6 This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will
last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor
harvesting. 7 God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your
families alive and to preserve many survivors. 8 So it was God who
sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to
Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.
4. Death of Jesus
Acts 2:23 But God knew
what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was
betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and
killed him.
Acts 4:26-28 The kings
of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the
Lord and against his Messiah.’ “In
fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius
Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against
Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed.
But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your
will.
5. According to the
Purpose of God
Acts 13:48 When the Gentiles
heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all
who were chosen for eternal life became believers.
Romans 8:28-30 And we
know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who
love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God
knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that
his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and
sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him.
And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having
given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
2 Thessalonians 2:13 As for us, we can’t help but thank God for
you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that
God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation
that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the
truth.
