1. Their Former State
For if God spared not the angels
that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of
darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; (2 Peter 2:4)
And the angels which kept not
their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. (Jude
1:6)
2. The Prince of Demons
And the scribes which came down
from Jerusalem
said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
(Mark 3:22)
3. Conflict with Spiritual Forces
Wherein in time past ye walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of
the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
(Ephesians 2:2)
For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].
(Ephesians 6:12)
4. Christ's Power Over Demons
For he said unto him, Come out of
the man, [thou] unclean spirit. (Mark 5:8)
5. Their Acknowledgment of God
And, behold, they cried out,
saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come
hither to torment us before the time? (Matthew 8:29)
And the evil spirit answered and
said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? (Acts 19:15)
Thou believest that there is one
God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (James 2:19)
