1. The Covenant with Adam
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying,
Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou
shalt surely die. (Genesis 2)
2. First promise of a Redeemer
And I will put enmity between
thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy
head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)
3. Abrahamic Covenant
2
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy
name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and
in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 12)
And the scripture, foreseeing
that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel
unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all nations be blessed. (Galatians 3:8)
4. Confirmed by an Oath
17 Wherein God, willing more
abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel,
confirmed [it] by an oath: 18 That by
two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might
have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope
set before us: (Hebrews 6)
5. God's Faithfulness to His Covenant
Thou wilt perform the truth to
Jacob, [and] the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from
the days of old. (Micah 7:20)
6. Christ the Mediator of a Better Covenant
But now hath he obtained a more
excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant,
which was established upon better promises. (Hebrews 8:6)
Now the God of peace, that
brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant, (Hebrews 13:20)
