1. A Right Attitude to God
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the
unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will
have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7)
And said, Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into
the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
Testifying both to the Jews, and
also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus
Christ. (Acts 20:21)
6 For to be carnally minded [is]
death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God:
for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot
please God. (Romans 8)
2. Requisites of True Conversion
Say unto them, [As] I live, saith
the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the
wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for
why will ye die, O house of Israel?
(Ezekiel 33:11)
Cast away from you all your transgressions,
whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for
why will ye die, O house of Israel?
(Ezekiel 18:31)
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31)
3. Evidence of Conversion
Through thy precepts I get
understanding: therefore I hate every false way. (Psalms 119:104)
One [thing] have I desired of the
LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the
days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his
temple. (Psalms 27:4)
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith
fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. (Luke 22)
By this shall all [men] know that ye are my
disciples, if ye have love one to another. (John 13:35)
And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is
given unto us. (Romans 5:5)
4. Interest of the Angels
Also I say unto you, Whosoever
shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the
angels of God: (Luke 12:8)
7
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner
that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no
repentance. 8 Either what woman having
ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep
the house, and seek diligently till she find [it]? 9 And when she hath found [it], she calleth
[her] friends and [her] neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I
have found the piece which I had lost. 10
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of
God over one sinner that repenteth. (Luke 15)
